Reiki Healing System

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Ki) is an ancient Tibetan hands-on healing system that was rediscovered in the late nineteenth century by a Japanese monk, Dr. Mikao Usui and brought to the West by Grand Master Hawaya Takata, a Japanese American woman in the 1970’s. Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. This is the energy that permeates and flows through all living things.

We bring with us a certain amount of this energy to life and use it up in our routines and stresses of daily living. We then have to replenish this energy. If we are unable to make up for this lost energy over a prolonged period of time, we may become physically or emotionally ill. Reiki is a natural, gentle and simple healing method that allows us to restore this lost and vital life force energy and bring the body into a harmonious balance.

What makes Reiki different from other hands-on healing methods is the attunement process. The person giving the Reiki treatment, the Reiki practitioner, has been through a series of attunements or initiations performed by a Reiki Master. These attunements open the inner healing channel in the Reiki practitioner. This allows the practitioner to act as a conduit or channel for Universal Life Force Energy. The practitioner can then access this energy in a concentrated form easily and consistently.

Through intent and the laying on of hands, the Reiki energy is activated and flows through the open healing channel of the practitioner into the body of the recipient. Universal Life Force Energy has an intelligence of its own and once it starts to flow in the person receiving the treatment, it innately goes where the healing is needed, on whatever level that may be, physical, emotional or spiritual.
